Régates de Valleyfield press Conference

With less than 67 days before the first shows you can smell the warm July breeze and the refreshing air of the Régates de Valleyfield.

Something for everyone :

The event planners at Regates de Valleyfield have been working hard to find a recipe that will please a wide cross section of the population.  Looking back on the success of the first evening of Dance music in 2011 it was evident that this experience of dancing under the open sky was something that was to be repeated and this time with MC Mario and his young protégé Miss Shelton.

A well-known name in the music industry Roch Voisine will make his first appearance at the Valleyfield event this summer.  Roch Voisine will only participate in 4 or 5 stops during the entire summer of festivals and Salaberry-de-Valleyfield is one of them.

William Deslauriers and Misteur Valaire will also be making their first ever appearance at the Régates de Valleyfield event while other groups such as; Les Cowboys Fringants, Kain, and the Porn Flakes who have already gained the love of the Valleyfield audience in the past will be back.

And now, a look to the future:

Once again this year the Régates de Valleyfield has opened its doors to welcome new talented groups with the presentation of “Rock tes Régates”.  The three groups chosen this year are; Heal, Eldeanne, and Guâdjéwâ.  A fourth artist will be chosen to take part in the July 6th competition and will be chosen during a new and upcoming music festival, ARTEFACT.

Racing:

The Hydroplane racing will be the best ever this summer and especially in Valleyfield and it will be the same for every class.  Do not miss your chance to see the most electrifying racing ever at the 74th edition of the Regates de Valleyfield July 13th, 14th, & 15 in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield.  See you there!

H-350 MUSICAL CHAIRS AGAIN !

Boy, just when things were starting to die down, several boats are changing hands again.
Now let me see if I can get the names and boats straight!  Patrick Hayworth is jumping back up to the Grand Prix class so his H-350 boat is going to Marco Poirier who I hear already has it in the paint booth ready to paint. Mike Grendell has also stepped up to our GP class so his 350 hull was going to go to Denis Rousse.  But now I hear Denis will stay in the 2.5 liter stock class and…news just in!  Michel Raymond and Dominique Daoust will take over the ex Paul Hewitt, soon-to-be H-350 hull and will have it at Long Sault next month. Best of luck to all these guys.

Roger Mahan has Jamie Auld working overtime on his all new design H-350 hull and reports have him ready for Valleyfield with Jimmy King handling the driving duties. Boy, it sure is great to have a great talent like Jimmy coming back to our race series. Mark my words, Jimmy will be in a GP boat in less than two years.

Now, has anybody seen Claude Bergeron’s (I hear very radical design) new H-350 hull? Claude is keeping it under wraps and rumor has it Claude will be out for a couple of races. Now if you know Claude like I know Claude the new rig will be sitting in the pits at Long Sault waiting for the five minute gun to fire. I also hear Stephane Carrier is working day and night on his new Leboeuf hull but might not be ready until Valleyfield. But way down in Harve de Grace, Maryland our girl Kelly Shane is (I guess it’s ok to say working her butt off) finishing the bottom of her H-350. Kelly plans to run the modified 305 motor to start the season off and possibly go to the 350 motor later on. OH! That reminds me, I had one of our race fans e-mail me and asked how you tell the difference in the two motors. Well the only way to tell the difference from the outside appearance is the 305 engine has a four barrel carb and the 350 engine has a two barrel carb.

Well that’s about all the news from the H-350 bunch so I guess everyone will have to travel to Long Sault next month to see how all these changes will play out on the race course.

Until then, continued save driving.
