June 25th, 2011 Eric Langevin flipped his Grand Prix Hydroplane race boat during a heat race in Brockville, Ontario. Langevin was able to get out of the safety capsule and escaped with only minor injuries.

The race was part of the 4th Annual Thousand Islands International Regatta in downtown Brockville, Ontario and was the 2nd round of the 2011 Canadian inboard hydroplane Championship. The Grand Prix (GP) class is the 2nd largest and most powerful inboard hydroplane class after the Unlimited Hydroplanes. The GP class is powered by a 468ci blown alcohol Chevy motor and is capable of speeds in excess of 160MPH. The next race will be in Valleyfield, Quebec on July 8-9-10 at the 73rd running of Les Regates de Valleyfield.

  1. It was a great day of racing in Brockville, we all really enjoyed it. So glad Eric was all right! He is a good racer and we look forward to seeing him again…hopefully in Valleyfield. Can’t wait to see what Paul Hewitt will do in Valleyfield too, along with my prize ‘Crush’ boat. Hopefully there will be lots of boats and good times too!
